We are experts at what we do, our trade. We are not however, experts on the technical side of safety, aka the paperwork and procedures. We required COR for our teams safety and our clients. So we called an expert in the field. We called Shelly. Shelly consulted with us, taught us the process and procedures involved and directed us to becoming a COR certified company. Her service provided us with an organized system that we were able to implement with ease. After the original setup, Shelly returns quarterly to review and score our submittals, make it nice and easy.
My advice to companies who are in the situation I was: stick to what you are good at. Hire an expert for the things you are not.
When I first decided to become COR certified, I felt very overwhelmed by the paperwork. Until I talked to Shelly! Shelly provides the knowledge of getting setup to be COR certified, and really takes the stress out of the process! She explains what steps to take and how to do them well. Safety Shelly is friendly and professional. I have appreciated her positive attitude towards following the safety regulations!
Lots of contractors say its so costly to be COR certified, I say you can’t afford not to be! Safety is the law.
Being a small General Contractor, it was clear to me early on in the process that we would need a specialized safety program designed to suite our unique company. Without direction, we did very little to advance our SECOR aspirations. Seeing our lack of progress, I then contracted the services of Safety With Shelly. Shelly designed a safety program for our specific company addressing our unique needs. The program had clear direction and was easy to follow. Shelly was readily available for our many questions early on and continued to give knowledgeable and concise direction throughout the process. I am proud to say that Aztec Builders Ltd. is now SECOR Certified in the Province of Manitoba. In closing, this process would have been very difficult if not unattainable without Safety With Shelly’s direction and guidance.
Shelly is a knowledgeable and passionate trainer. Our company had some work out of province that required specific jurisdictional training. The training was very hard to come by and we were at our wits end trying to find someone to train and evaluate our workers. Shelly had done a COR audit for me a few years ago and when it was suggested to me she could provide the specific training we needed I said “Great! Our experience with Shelly last time was very good. “ She did not disappoint. The training material was top shelf and her style makes it easy for our workers to understand. She traveled, sometimes on short notice, many hours to our out of province sites to evaluate and deliver more training as our workforce grew. Because she grew up in the heavy construction industry the workers can see she knows what she is talking about because she has done it. We could not have gotten the job done without the quality training Shelly provided. We would definitely use Shelly again.
Shelly is very professional, prompt, convenient and she is very knowledgeable and goes above and beyond in her services! She’s helped us with all our company safety needs and we would recommend Safety with Shelly to any business, big or small!
Working with Shelly has been one of the most incredible experiences. Starting a COR Certification program is very challenging and of course time consuming . She has been there with her expertise and knowledge to assist us in keeping our everyday safety in place and documented . Audit preparation and Audits are much easier now as she keeps us focused in the right direction. In closing , I would like to say our investment with Safety with Shelly is a positive investment today and moving forward in business !!!

The Heavy Equipment Operator Training course was very interesting for all the trainees. Almost all the 12 trainees are now employed in the community within the O & M or Winter Roads department. The few that are not employed have had opportunity for work outside of the community. The training was very applicable and hands on, they learnt a lot. We have requested another HEO training session as there are now more people within the community who would like this opportunity from talking to the others. I would recommend this training to all of the Northern communities – it opens up doors for our people, is cost effective and the best part is the training happens within our community so its more hands on and highly successful.
We used Safety with Shelly – CONSULTING SERVICES Ltd. in the fall of 2017 to train 12 community members in Heavy Equipment Operator Training. The trainees learnt a lot, and the training was high quality. They now know how to operate and are not afraid of the big machines. We just need to tell them what to do and they can go and do it. This program focuses a lot on how to properly check and maintain your equipment – this is the main thing! This equipment pays your wage and if its sitting you are not working and making money. Thank you to the band for funding this – we now have knowledgeable, competent and trained operators within our community and we do not need to look elsewhere for workers. This helps keep our community sustainable and proactive. Great job trainers!
Thank you very much 🙂 I came into this training program knowing very little about the machines. I’ve been working on a construction project and the information taught made a lot more sense and I can relate it back to my worksite. I have confidence now, knowing I can go onto a worksite and use the knowledge that I’ve gained. Really enjoyed the course!
I recently took the Heavy Equipment Operator Training Certification Program with Shelly, Craig and Kenton. I loved the course! The content was excellent, informative, and interesting. I really enjoyed learning how to run the machines. The instructors were very informative and experienced!
I am the Safety Coordinator for Al Meisner Ltd. We started our company in the mid 1950’s and the industry has changed drastically since then. When I started working with our family business 13 years ago I didn’t expect to be taking on a safety role and to be honest I had no idea where to start. That is where Safety with Shelly – CONSULTING SERVICES Ltd. came in. Over the years she has helped us tremendously. She has guided not only me but our whole company with her expertise. We now have the knowledge we need to keep up with our COR Safety Program and the aspects that can change from time to time. From helping us start our safety manual to an organized filing system that I can use to keep all my files separate and in proper order, Shelly has been there each step of the way. Thank you Shelly for the guidance you have provided us and continue to provide for us at Al Meisner Ltd.!
I recently finished taking Heavy Equipment Operator Training with Safety with Shelly – CONSULTING SERVICES Ltd. I have taken this training before with another firm and didn’t get all the information I needed. This training was more interesting and gave me more information. I really enjoyed it!
Very interesting and valuable training information. I enjoyed the machines and learned a lot more than I expected. Overall, this program and trainers are excellent. Thank you for the opportunity and for bringing this program to our community!
The program and trainers were very professional and the instructor was excellent. Course content was clear and concise. I really enjoyed this course very much. Shelly’s presentations were very good and Craig/Kenton were excellent trainers. Thank you guys!
Excellent presenter & trainers!!
Kenton, Craig & Shelly are very understanding instructors. Thank you for teaching me more knowledge and better understanding of the equipment. I learnt better techniques right to the pin point. Thanks!
This program is an eye opener and teaches you to think ahead. Safety first is essential when it comes to operating heavy equipment. This gave me more hours and taught me better operating techniques. I’m glad i got more hands on experience on all heavy equipment!
I have learned a lot in this training course and now feel ready to find a position operating heavy equipment. I would have liked to spend more time learning because of the instructors/trainers – they are very knowledgeable! I have enjoyed doing the training course very much. Thanks!
Overall this training program is the best start for my future career. I have learned how to operate safely and it taught me well. I would like to thank Craig & Kenton for allowing me to acheive my goals as teh operator. Without them I would not have learned how to operate heavy equipment. You guys are the best trainers that have ever taught! Masi chok nacha. Thank you very much.
Best training course I ever took! Good trainers, good communication. Looking forward to start a job in this career now. Thank you Shelly, Kenton & Craig. Good job! Thanks.
I liked this course very much, way better then the simulator training I took for two months. This course is good, better communication and you actually get hands on experience on the heavy equipment. I learned how to cut and operate. I am looking forward to starting a job somewhere now as a Heavy Equipment Operator.
Safety is vital for any business, and having a practical and effective plan was important for us. The paperwork and legislation involved however is another story, and after attempting several times I found myself frustrated and overwhelmed.
We got a recommendation for Safety with Shelly – CONSULTING SERVICES Ltd., and we were not disappointed. In no time she had a plan tailored to our business, that was efficient and organized, and gave us the confidence to pass our external audit with ease.
Good job! So proud of the trainees. When they completed the HEO training session they were walking with their heads held high and proud. You got some positive remarks, thank you so much. We will definitely be looking at more training in the future – they learnt so much and we got a nice project done in the community. Win win!
Thank you to Safety with Shelly – CONSULTING SERVICES Ltd. for an awesome training session! I seen first hand how much the guys learnt on the heavy equipment. Some had never operated before and the skills they learnt in this short time was surprising. But even more surprising was the skills and knowledge that the more experienced operators learnt, the trainers have so much knowledge and experiences to share. We were able to build a road to our cemetery during this training which was a huge blessing to our community. Great job SwS, we look forward to more training in the future!
I really liked taking this training program. I’ve been running equipment for over 25 years but nowadays if I ask for a job in the mine sites they ask for this training to be completed first. I really enjoyed this course, it helps me find employment and work safe. I learnt lots of new things that I didn’t know, thank you to the trainers!
I like operating the dozer the best. I got to experience heavy equipment operating, which I am thankful for. I learnt lots on the loader and dozer. This is the first time I have taken any type of training like this, and I would like to continue to learn more. Most importantly I had fun operating and learning. I had an awesome few weeks with these trainers. Hope to see you guys again soon!
I really liked this training! The instructors are very great at teaching and hands on training. I learned how to do proper circle checks, I really enjoyed my few weeks with these guys!! They are so experienced they can answer all of my questions!
What I liked the most about this program was driving these pieces of heavy equipment. I have not ever driven these machines before and it was a good experience. The safety was important to learn in the classroom first in order to know how to operate safely. The instructors were amazing, I’ve asked lots of questions and they had answers for everything. At the end, it was fun learning everything!
I liked how they taught us about controlling the machines. I learned how to control and operate the machines and how to safely drive. The training course was really fun and informative. We got to move snow around the community and work on the roads. I am going to be looking for a job in this field as soon as I receive my certificate!
I liked the loader the most. The instructors were awesome!! I’ve learned a lot in this training course, more then I thought I would have. I have not been in a training program before like this one, I would recommend anyone interested in this field to take it. I had a really good time with these guys, the instructors were great!
I liked and enjoyed every piece of equipment, but most of all I enjoyed operating the loader. There is nothing I didn’t like about this course! I learned how to operate 4 pieces of equipment – dozer, loader, backhoe and grader. Plus I learned from my mistakes. I now know how to use the boom in the backhoe but need to get some more hours to become even better. I have never taken a program like this before, this is my first time. I definitely recommend it! Most of all, I had SO MUCH FUN in this program!
