- Injury Prevention and Cost Savings: A COR or SAFE Work certified company can experience reduced financial costs associated with injuries and incidents that affect the company’s financial bottom line. A good safety record will enhance an organization’s reputation in the industry. Employers have found an evaluation of their health and safety program is an effective way to identify organizations weaknesses to be corrected. This can lead to improvements in the system, and fewer job injuries and less job interruptions will contribute to a more productive and profitable company. If you are a COR Certified company you will also receive a discount on your WCB rates – now that’s incentive!
- Pre-Bid Qualification: COR & SAFE Work certification is a pre-bid qualification requirement for many construction projects in many provinces. Qualifying your company to bid puts your company at a decided advantage when compared to those companies that are not COR or SAFE Work certified. The COR program is often referenced by construction owners and contractors to locate employers with a demonstrated commitment to accident prevention.
- Due Diligence: The documentation and general safety awareness produced by the COR & SAFE Work Certified process may also provide evidence of due diligence if your company is charged with a Workplace Health and Safety offense. Through the process of training, program development, and implementation, companies build a more effective organization and can prove due diligence.
Meegan Meisner - Al Meisner Ltd.
I am the Safety Coordinator for Al Meisner Ltd. We started our company in the mid 1950’s and the industry has changed drastically since then. When I started working with our family business 13 years ago I didn’t expect to be taking on a safety role and to be honest I had no idea where to start. That is where Safety with Shelly – CONSULTING SERVICES Ltd. came in. Over the years she has helped us tremendously. She has guided not only me but our whole company with her expertise. We now have the knowledge we need to keep up with our COR Safety Program and the aspects that can change from time to time. From helping us start our safety manual to an organized filing system that I can use to keep all my files separate and in proper order, Shelly has been there each step of the way. Thank you Shelly for the guidance you have provided us and continue to provide for us at Al Meisner Ltd.!
We are experts at what we do, our trade. We are not however, experts on the technical side of safety, aka the paperwork and procedures. We required COR for our teams safety and our clients. So we called an expert in the field. We called Shelly. Shelly consulted with us, taught us the process and procedures involved and directed us to becoming a COR certified company. Her service provided us with an organized system that we were able to implement with ease. After the original setup, Shelly returns quarterly to review and score our submittals, make it nice and easy.
My advice to companies who are in the situation I was: stick to what you are good at. Hire an expert for the things you are not.
